ART JOURNALS

Creating art journals is a regular part of my practice. I carry a journal or two in my backpack wherever I go. This practice allows me to experiment with compositions, color, and textural elements while gathering images related to a theme. Quick sketches evolve into mixed media pieces. I love the feel of a thick, tactile book that holds memories connecting me to specific moments and locations. The journals create a way to engage with others in public spaces such as on the train or in a public park. When curious viewers are handed a book to touch and open, a conversation begins. The art images are touch-able, accessible in a new way and the conversation between viewer and artist becomes part of the story. I am always working on several journals and will post updates here periodically.
